Last month Electronic Beats Radio premiered the inaugural release from London label Lobster Theremin, a jacking piece of house music with a fair bit of grit buried in its elastic joints. The release was enough to get their interest well and truly piqued by the producer, a Berlin resident called Palms Trax who seems to be favoring anonymity . Alighting on his frayed-edged, full-throttle style through experiments in Detroit workouts thrashed out in his home studio, his productions clearly pay their dues to their US forebears. However, like the most interesting artists lumped in with the hardware revival, he’s approaching this back to basics sound from a very strange periphery. By way of proof, this Mix of the Day boasts material from Frozen Border, Mathematics, PAN, and Lobster Theremin as well as more explicitly experimental work from artists like Alejandra & Aeron and Dalglish. - See more here:

October 2013 Dutch company brings game-changing app scoop to Web Summit in Dublin “Developing an app is now dramatically quicker, cheaper and easier” Web Summit, DUBLIN, October 29, 2013 – On the opening day of Web Summit, the largest and most important internet technology conference in Europe, the Dutch company Webapptool will launch its web app development toolkit for professionals. Using its versatile CMS, designers without any programming skills can now quickly create web apps that offer the full app experience to the end user. This toolkit is a game-changing technology, because web apps were previously only known about and available to developers willing to do hours of coding. For this reason, and its obvious growth potential, Webapptool has been selected to join 150 of “the world’s leading high-growth startups” in the prestigious STARTglobal programme at Web Summit.
Webapptool is an online software toolkit for professional developers and designers in specialist app companies, system integrators, web, advertising and media agencies. It offers both complete freedom in terms of design and structure, as well as pre-programmed functions. This means that the development can be done more creatively and more efficiently by designers themselves.
Web apps are an excellent alternative to the existing native or hybrid apps. These are often more expensive because they must be developed separately for each mobile platform (iOS, Android, Windows, Blackberry). Another disadvantage of normal apps is that they are only available through the app stores where they are often hard to find.
Web apps combine the best of both worlds, a good mobile experience with graphic optimization, maximizing the mobile device’s functionality, working on all mobile platforms, with the added advantage of being accessible directly from the client’s own website. In this way, an own app becomes possible for many more businesses and organizations and it creates a large new market segment for website developers, designers and developers.Google has predicted that use of the internet by mobile devices will exceed that of traditional PCs and laptops by the end of 2014. This is a huge shift, which has happened much faster than most expected, and it has big repercussions for all businesses. It is now of paramount importance that companies not only present information well on smartphones and tablets, but also that they are easy to find.
There is no doubt that the growth of apps, and therefore web apps, will continue explosively in the coming years. Webapptool is the first platform for developing web apps and aims to remain the No.1 as imitators arise. To realize this ambition, Webapptool raised USD 700,000 in its first round of financing. Licensees are already operating in Europe, the US, Dubai, Australia and Indonesia, and between them they have developed more than 1,000 apps in 2013.

Belgium’s Cupp Cave (a.k.a. Franz Baker) is one of the most intriguing voices to emerge in what might be termed the post-Actress milieu, a generation of producers who subsist on dusted, off-kilter arrangements and sidechain-compression trickery. The artist just seems to have better groove awareness than most of his contemporaries, and as a result, one gets the sense that many of his tracks would stand up even without their experimental production values. NVMB, Baker’s latest EP, is certainly not a grand statement, but it’s no detriment to his reputation either.

"We quickly discovered that there are many audio fans out there who hunger for knowledge of these machines. In our videos, the goal is more than to show the recorder off, the controls and so on, it is to show HOW the machines work, looking under the hood at the internal mechanism and electronics to teach people about the machines and display the engineering ingenuity that each has. We found that many young people are fascinated by this old technology, and appreciate the education that these videos provide." Tim Thompson from ClydeSight Productions explains to us how young people are taking step back in time.

Jack Fisher -“In this Hyperlapse I tried to capture the flow and pace of the stunning City of Bath. The Summer months thankfully brought sunshine this year which gave the City a visual warmth and glow. The summer also brings a greater flow of people to the City. I tried to display a juxtaposition between the heavy flow of people moving through Baths narrow Georgian streets (through the static medium of time-lapse) with the slow pace and flow of the more spacious, tranquil and peaceful areas of the City (through movement orientated hyperlapsing). At night i tried to portray the more gentle, relaxed pace that the City crawls to.”
